The fourth INHERIT (Sustainable tourism strategies for the protection and valorization of the natural heritage of the Mediterranean coast) project partnership meeting was held on 11 and 12 September in Montpellier, France.
The meeting brought together leading partners, working group leaders and relevant key partners who took an active role in the envisaged sessions. During the two-day meeting, the partners discussed the activities completed so far and made a plan for future activities under Work Package IV, which represents testing and implementation of activities in selected protected areas.
The project will test and apply a new approach tailored to the specificities of MED in protecting the natural heritage from the adverse effects of intensive tourism. INHERIT will promote seasonal incentives for sustainable tourism and addressing the challenges of exceeding domestic capacity, devising and implementing a bottom-up approach in protecting the area, relying on self-regulation and monitoring by local community and tourism stakeholders.
INHERIT is implemented within the Interreg Med program and brings together 15 partners from all 10 MED countries with the aim of preserving and valorizing the natural heritage in the MED coastal tourist destinations. Parks Dinarides – Network of protected areas of Dinarides is an official partner from Montenegro.
