25/09/2016

The first stocking Durmitor lakes were carried out at the beginning of XX century the transfer of brown trout ( Salmo labrax m. Fario ) from the river Bukovica, and they have become especially intense sixties and seventies, when inserted and types that are not from our area.

Public Enterprise for National Parks of Montenegro in cooperation with the Faculty of Science UCG addressed to the Agency for Environmental Protection and received authorization for the activities of establishing the original situation of indigenous fauna in the Durmitor lakes.

On this occasion we invite all fans of sport fishing and all stakeholders who wish to engage in this activity in the area of NP Durmitor in order to improve the state of biodiversity. They will be able to until 15 October 2016, without compensation for sport fishing license, fishing pots on Zabojsko and Blue Lake.

Also, ask all who opt for catching fish in these lakes, to use the prescribed fishing gear, respecting the rules of behavior in nature and take into account the conservation of natural and cultural values of NP Durmitor.

Anglers can use all kinds of fishing with a fishing rod, artificial bait, natural bait (dead or alive) from the environment of the lake.

Fish that exist in the lakes are: minnow, trout, trout, and possibly even Chinese.

Public Enterprise for National Parks of Montenegro, in cooperation with the Faculty of Sciences ichthyologists, in accordance with the planned activities provided by five-year Management Plan 2016-2020. and program management NP Durmitor 2016, addressed to the Agency for Environmental Protection and received authorization for the activities of establishing the original situation of indigenous fauna of the lakes of Durmitor (Wavy, Blue, Barno, Zabojsko, Zminje, Veliko Škrčko lake) to the end of 2017. After harvesting fish not indigenous JPNPCG continue activities aimed at resettlement of indigenous, endemic and endangered fauna of amphibians, primarily representatives of the genus Triturus, which is due to the presence ichtyofauna almost disappeared from Durmitor lakes.

We remind you that the fish species in the lakes of the National Park "Durmitor" not authentic ihtiofauna, but have been incorporated in these lakes and are a less important part of the natural values of this protected area.

Thus, the greater number of species of alpine lakes contain lake trout (Salvelinus alpinus ), and let the rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) . Durmitorska Lake at a glance (clean and clear water) provide an opportunity for the survival of fish, however, more detailed analysis shows a completely different picture. The water temperature in most parts of the year is very low, so the fish growth very slow. In most of the lake there is no possibility for natural reproduction, abundance of other wildlife (Production) is a small fish so lacking in food. Long-term retention of ice on the surface causes oxygen deficit, but often comes to mortality of fish. All this causes the appearance of starving form unsightly and disproportionately large head. Only Black and Devil's Lake provide a relatively favorable conditions for the existence of fish, and thus for their exploitation in fishing terms.

Durmitorska Lake used to have a specific and unique fauna, but it is introducing non-native predatory fish species permanently disturbed. Thus, the species of the genus Triturus in some lakes before the complete disappearance of. Species of this genus are protected in Europe. We especially emphasize the type of Triturus alpestris which is protected by the Bern Convention (Appendix III), the European directive on the protection of habitats and species.
