The 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 14), was held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt from 13th to 29th November 2018.
With the joint efforts of 196 representatives of the governments of the member countries of the Convention, numerous agreements have been made on harmonization of investments for nature and wellbeing of people until 2020 and further at the UN conference for biological diversity.
Sharm El-Sheikh Declaration was adopted and signed in the scope of Ministerial Segment of the Convention calling for General Assembly of the UN to form the summit on biological diversity until 2020 for representatives of the governments of member countries of the Convention.
Representatives of member countries have reached agreements on speeding up the activities for achieving the Aichi goal of biological diversity until 2020. Also, the processes for the development of the post-2020 global framework of biological diversity have been agreed. Also, Sharm El-Sheikh – Beijing Action Plan for Nature and People has been presented, for the purpose of collecting, coordination and presentation of the activities taken by numerous participants for protection of biological diversity. Action Plan for Nature and People will be available on an online platform for collection and presentation of specific commitments and contributions to biological diversity in response to the following Conference of the member states which will be held in 2020 in Beijing (China).
