Parks Dinarides Participates in the Protected Area Managers’ Days in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Parks Dinarides participated in the Protected Area Managers’ Days in Bosnia and Herzegovina, held from 16 to 18 September 2026 in Trebinje. The event brought together protected area managers, representatives of relevant institutions, and organizations working in nature conservation, providing an opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss current challenges in protected area management.
During the three-day programme, participants were introduced to the activities of protected area management associations from Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as newly established and planned protected areas. Participants also had the opportunity to learn about the experiences of the newly established public institution responsible for managing protected areas in Zenica-Doboj Canton, the Vrela Sane Natural Monument, and the Konjuh Protected Landscape.
Special attention was given to the impacts of climate change on protected areas and opportunities for establishing cooperation in monitoring these impacts. A significant part of the programme also focused on the sustainability of protected area management. Discussions covered financing models, sponsorships and partnerships, marketing and branding, as well as improving digital communication and the online presence of protected area management authorities.

The programme concluded with a field visit to Orjen Nature Park and the Ubla recreational area, where participants had the opportunity to explore the area’s natural values and gain first-hand insights into its management practices.
The participation of Parks Dinarides in this event represents a continuation of its cooperation with protected area managers in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its support for strengthening their connections and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experience. Such gatherings are particularly important for enhancing cooperation among protected areas across the region and jointly identifying solutions to the challenges that protected area managers face in their daily work.
