In cooperation with the interested local authorities, economy and communities’ representatives, the Parks Dinarides support and implement activities of regional development in populated and peripheral protected areas, in order to influence opening new opportunities and improvement of life quality. The network of protected areas of the Dinarides will pay special attention to the development of sustainable tourism forms, promoting ecologic construction, using renewable energy sources, sustainable waste management with the assistance of specific projects, that will contribute to reduction and adaptation to climate change.

Sustainable tourism is one of the most efficient ways to generate economic activities in protected areas and around them. Along with that, protected areas can bring some other advantages to rural areas by fostering innovative initiatives development. Moreover, they can assist in promotion of regional produces, creation of green jobs and in providing ecosystem services leading to the improvement of quality of living.

For that reason, the Parks Dinarides support protected areas in fulfilment of this important role, and that is development of new sustainable regional development models and improvement of quality of life of the Dinarides.
