Open Doors Days Held in Komovi Nature Park, Municipality of Andrijevica
Parks Dinarides, in cooperation with Komovi Nature Park, organized Open Days on May 24 as part of the “Wild Garlic and Traditional Cuisine Days” event, which is traditionally hosted by Komovi Nature Park.
This event was held to mark European Day of Parks, celebrated annually on May 24. This year’s theme, “Together for Nature,” served as a reminder of the importance of cooperation between protected area managers and local communities as a key precondition for the effective and sustainable preservation of natural values.
The Open Days provided an opportunity to present the park managers’ activities to the local community and visitors, as well as to gather direct feedback that can contribute to improving the future work of Komovi Nature Park.

This initiative represents an example of good practice in protected area management, aiming to present the work of park managers to the public – particularly the local community – while also collecting feedback that can contribute to improving operations and planning future activities.
During the event, a visitor survey was conducted regarding the management of Komovi Nature Park. The collected comments and suggestions will serve as a valuable input for the further development and enhancement of management practices within this protected area.
Additionally, an exhibition titled “Komovi Nature Park: From Mountain Huts to the Peaks” was organized, with the aim of promoting the natural beauty and unique character of the region.

The Open Days initiative and the exhibition “Komovi Nature Park: From Mountain Huts to the Peaks” were organized as part of the project:
“Empowering Local Communities for Sustainable Management of Protected Areas,” supported through the Supported = Empowered program, implemented by the Fund for Active Citizenship (fAKT) in partnership with the Slagalica Foundation for Community Development from Croatia.
The program is funded by the European Union and co-financed by the Ministry of Public Administration.
