Successful Implementation of the “School Composting” Program at OŠ Milan Vukotić, Golubovci
The Parks Dinarides, in cooperation with biology teacher Rajka Ajković, successfully carried out the educational program “School Composting” at the Milan Vukotić Elementary School in Golubovci.
The goal of the program was to introduce 6th grade students, in a practical and interactive way, to the importance of composting and the proper management and disposal of organic waste.
The program was designed as a series of five interactive workshops, through which students gained new knowledge and skills and actively participated in the composting process:
Workshop: “What is Composting?”
Workshop: Building a Compost Bin
Workshop: How Will the Compost Bin Work?
Workshop: You Can Compost Too!
Workshop: How Did It Go?

Through these activities, students learned about the importance of waste reduction, the cycle of matter in nature, and the role that each individual plays in environmental conservation, all supported by hands-on work and teamwork.

The educational program “School Composting” was developed by the Parks Dinarides, in collaboration with and with expert support from Udruga Sunce (Sunce Association) from Split, and with financial support from the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development of Montenegro. It was implemented as part of a six-month project titled “Developing Educational Programs – School Composting,” which ran until June 2025.
In addition to OŠ Milan Vukotić, the program was also successfully implemented at OŠ Niko Maraš in the Zeta municipality. The organizers are especially pleased that both schools recognized the importance of composting — not only as a topic for learning but also as part of everyday school practice.
The Parks Dinarides extends its thanks to biology teacher Rajka Ajković and the school janitor of OŠ Milan Vukotić for their dedication and effort in making composting an integral part of school activities.
