Third Stakeholder Meeting – Turning Pollinator Conservation Measures into Action in Montenegro
Parks Dinarides – Network of Protected Areas of Dinarides, in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development of Montenegro, is organizing the third stakeholder meeting within the POLLINATE project. The meeting will take place on 28 October 2026, starting at 11:00 AM, at NEST Coworking Space in Podgorica (Cetinjski put bb).
With the adoption of the National Biodiversity Strategy 2026–2031, pollinators have been explicitly recognized for the first time within Montenegro’s national strategic framework for biodiversity conservation. The Strategy outlines a range of actions aimed at improving knowledge of wild pollinators, strengthening their monitoring and protection, restoring habitats, and better integrating pollinator conservation into agricultural policies and agri-environmental measures.
The aim of the meeting is to bring together representatives of relevant institutions, the scientific community, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to discuss how these strategic priorities can be translated into concrete and achievable actions.
Particular attention will be given to establishing a national wild pollinator monitoring programme, building on existing data and research, developing appropriate monitoring protocols, and identifying a potential institutional framework for its implementation. In this context, the meeting will explore opportunities for establishing and implementing monitoring activities in protected areas, future Natura 2000 sites, and agroecosystems, as key components of the future national monitoring system.
The meeting is designed as a working discussion aimed at identifying priority next steps, responsible institutions and organizations, and opportunities for further cooperation.
