Parks Dinarides implemented the project: „Determining the census on the presence and distribution of invasive plant species on the territory of Montenegro“. The aim of the project is to provide information and introduce the public to the concept of invasive foreign plant species. The project contributed to the development of an Action Plan to fight foreign and invasive foreign species as well.

The project included desk research to define a list of foreign and invasive foreign plant species. Data from existing scientific and professional research were used to inventory invasive plant species. In addition to defining the list, a publication “Foreign and invasive foreign species in Montenegro“ has been prepared. Publication includes information on mapping, distribution, impact and a proposal on how we can influence control, reduce negative impact and their removal. In order to present findings to relevant stakeholders it was organized round table.

Public awareness campaign was conducted on the problems caused by invasive plant species, as well as on the importance and protection of biodiversity loss caused by this problem. The prepared educational material is available to the general public, and it was awarded to institutions in all municipalities in the territory of Montenegro where this problem was noticed, as well as to high school students.
