Nature

Its slopes are rocky, with numerous holes, pits and deep depressions, giving the landscape a distinctive look. Forests and woodlands are the dominant ecosystem that occupies 70% of the territory of the park, while the rest is rocky pasture ecosystem. Water ecosystems are rare. Combination of two climate zones, the Mediterranean and continental, caused the development of rich flora and fauna with numerous endemic species. Among the 1,300 plant species, accounting for 1/3 of the total Montenegrin flora, many of endemic plants are rare, medicinal, aromatic and melliferous. The area of the Park is a habitat for many animal species. In addition to mammals (wolf, bear, wild boar, fox, deer, rabbit, white-breasted hedgehog, Montenegrin voles, etc.), many other animal groups are numerous here, around 200 species of birds, 11 species of reptiles, and others.

Sacral architecture of the area of Njeguši is characterized by the modest village churches, constructed in the period between fifteenth and nineteenth century, as well as traditional buildings such as stone houses built next to the rocks to so that the fertile areas were saved. Interesting architectural objects are village threshing floors, which played an important role in the social life of the village. According to their size and appearance, the economic power of the households was often estimated. Particular architectural and environmental significance have the ancient caravan route and famous Lovćen serpentines, the road which, from 1884, along the mountain massive, connects Njeguši and Kotor. Austro-Hungarian rule left valuable infrastructure facilities, water collector in Koritnik, Njeguški plumbing and the entire network of roads with stone retaining walls.
