Competition for the award of grants within the 2nd cycle Grants Programme for Protected Areas
Parks Dinarides – the network of protected areas of Dinarides, together with WWF Adria, announces a competition for the award of funds from the Grants Programme for Protected Areas.
The Grants Programme for Protected Areas is intended for managers of protected areas in the Dinaric Arc region to improve relations and dialogue between protected areas and their local communities and build partnerships at local and regional level.
Projects under this Programme can be implemented at national and/or regional level in the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia. Protected areas from these countries can apply as Lead Applicants.
Protected areas from Croatia and Slovenia can participate in the competition as regional partners.
The priority when awarding grants is given to protected areas members of the Parks Dinarides network. Other national parks, nature parks and regional parks from the eight countries of the Dinaric region are invited to apply as well.
The objective of the Grants Programme for Protected Areas
The main objective of the call is to build partnership and enhance level of cooperation between protected areas and representatives of local communities based on principles of accountability, transparency and participation.
The specific objectives of the call are:
- To improve level of cooperation between protected areas and local communities for the purpose of improving monitoring illegal activities and unsustainable practices in protected areas;
- Establishment of permanent structures/mechanisms for communication and improvement of the functionality of existing cooperation between competent institutions and civil society in a protected area;
- Support for an innovative approach for mitigation of secondary effects COVID-19 pandemic on protected areas;
- Support for resolution of negative effects of COVID-19 pandemic on vulnerable population (including, but not limited to, women, youth, minorities, elderly and persons with disabilities) in protected areas.
Priority areas for the Grants Programme for Protected Areas are:
- Decision making and decision-influencing;
- Management planning;
- Communication between protected areas and the local community;
- Education and cooperation with local educational institutions and organizations;
- Economic development;
- Equal rights and opportunities.
The total amount for financing from the Grants Programme is 57,000.00 EUR. The minimum amount for grant/support per project is 3,000.00 EUR, and the maximum amount is 7,000.00 EUR. All submitted projects are obliged to contribute with a minimum of 30% of the total budget.
The deadline for the submission of project proposals is 31 December 2020.
