Webinar: Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on protected areas in Dinaric Arc region

Parks Dinarides – Network of protected areas of Dinarides in cooperation with WWF Adria will organize a Webinar on the topic: Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on protected areas in Dinaric Arc region.

The Webinar will be held on 8 December 2020 from 11:00h to 13:00h.

The event is organized within the project „Protected areas for nature and people“ supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

The aim of the Webinar is exchanging experiences of protected area managers from eight Dinaric Arc countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia) on adapting management of protected areas caused by COVID-19, through examples of individual protected areas from each of Dinaric Arc countries. In addition, the aim is to bring managers of protected areas closer to the processes, new ideas, good practices aimed at mitigating the effects of the pandemic.

Albania: National Agency for Protected Areas of Albania (NAPA)

Bosnia and Herzegovina: National Park Kozara

Montenegro: Nature Park Piva

Croatia: Nature Park Žumberak – Samoborsko gorje

Kosovo*: Nature Park Germia

North Macedonia: National Park Mavrovo

Slovenia: Park Škocjan Caves

Serbia: National Park Tara

As the intention is to continue working on this topic after the Webinar and to consider the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on nature protection and protected area management, both at the national and regional level, we believe that it would be especially important for a representative of your institution to attend the Webinar.

Therefore, we invite you to join us at the event and through discussion give your vision of the challenges facing nature conservation due to the impact of a pandemic.

If you are unable to join us, please appoint your representative who, in addition to attending the Webinar, would continue cooperation with Parks Dinarides and WWF Adria to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on protected areas and define recommendations and measures for its alleviation.

The Webinar will be held on the Zoom platform in local languages ​​with translation to Albanian.
