Announcement: Third Workshop for the Development of the Management Plan for the Cijevna Canyon Natural Monument

Parks Dinarides – Network of Protected Areas of Dinarides, together with the Cijevna Canyon Natural Monument LLC, is organizing the third workshop for the development of the Management Plan for the “Cijevna Canyon” Natural Monument. The workshop will take place on 15 September 2026, at the Tuzi Municipality Hall, starting at 10:00 a.m.

The workshop represents a continuation of the participatory management planning process for this protected area and will bring together representatives of the management authority, relevant institutions, local government, professional organizations, the non-governmental sector, and other interested stakeholders, with the aim of jointly defining priorities, objectives, and concrete activities for the conservation and sustainable management of Cijevna Canyon.

During the previous two workshops, participants discussed the area’s key natural values, its current condition and management challenges, as well as the main pressures and threats to biodiversity and natural resources. The results of expert studies conducted in the Cijevna Canyon area, together with contributions from stakeholders, provide the basis for the further development of the Management Plan.

The third workshop will focus on the development of the Action Plan, including the definition of concrete measures and activities to be implemented during the period covered by the Management Plan. Participants will jointly discuss priorities, expected results, responsibilities for the implementation of activities, timelines, and other elements necessary for their effective implementation.

The Management Plan is being developed through a participatory process to ensure that, in addition to scientific data and legal requirements, the final document incorporates the knowledge, experience, and needs of institutions, local communities, and other stakeholders connected to the area.

The development of the five-year Management Plan for the area, as well as other activities aimed at providing concrete support to the management authority, is being carried out within the project “Contributing to More Effective Management of the Cijevna Canyon Natural Monument – Phase II”, implemented by Parks Dinarides in cooperation with its partners INCA – Institute for Nature Conservation in Albania and Malesia Adventure, with the support of the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF).
