Launching the Establishment of a Participatory Body in Komovi Nature Park
Parks Dinarides – Network of Protected Areas of Dinarides, in cooperation with Komovi Nature Park and the Municipality of Andrijevica, has launched the process of establishing a participatory body that will bring together key stakeholders from the area of the park.
In the previous period, meetings were held with representatives of the Forestry Administration – Andrijevica branch, the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Andrijevica, the Hunting Association, the Regional Development Agency Bjelasica, Komovi, Prokletije, as well as with residents of the traditional mountain settlements (katuns) surrounding Komovi Nature Park in Andrijevica. All participants expressed their readiness to take part, emphasizing the importance of mutual cooperation and coordination with the park management.
Particularly important is the involvement of the Municipality of Kolašin and the Agency for the Management of Protected Areas of Podgorica, which also manage parts of Komovi located within their territories.

The work of the participatory body will contribute to improved communication and stronger cooperation among institutions and organizations active in this area. The founding meeting is planned for October, followed by the development of a one-year activity plan. The formation of this body takes place in parallel with the preparation of the five-year management plan for Komovi Nature Park, ensuring the active participation of all stakeholders in decision-making and in the further development of the park.
The establishment of the participatory body in Komovi Nature Park is being implemented within the project “Empowering Local Communities for Sustainable Management of Protected Areas in Montenegro”, supported through the program Supported = Empowered, carried out by the Fund for Active Citizenship (fAKT) in partnership with the Slagalica Foundation for the Development of the Local Community from Croatia. The program is funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Ministry of Public Administration.
