Event announcement: Panel Discussion – Invasive species in protected areas – experiences and challenges
Parks Dinarides is organizing a panel discussion: Invasive species in protected areas – experiences and challenges, which will be held on Tuesday, 12 th of March 2024. in Podgorica, in the premises of the Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, starting at 10:00 a.m.
With the event, we want to consider the issue of the existence and distribution of invasive and alien invasive species in protected areas in Montenegro as one of the biggest challenges facing these areas. At the event, we will consider the issue of the current legal framework, as well as the obligations in this sense, but also present the experiences of managers from Croatia, as well as models of financing and support for managers in the fight against invasive species in that country.
The panel discussion is organized as the final event of the project “Mapping foreign invasive plant species and establishing a Biologer community in Montenegro“, which is being implemented with the support of the Rufford Foundation. Therefore, at the event, we will present the results of the Biologer platform and the mapping of the most common invasive plants in Montenegro, as well as the initiatives and results of other civil society organizations in Montenegro.
