Visit of colleagues from Obedska bara to Tivoli park

On Thursday (15 July) and Friday (16 July 2021) we hosted colleagues from the nature reserve Obedska bara from Vojvodina (Serbia), managed by the Vojvodinašume Public Company, in the Tivoli, Rožnik and Šiška Hill landscape park.

The exchange between the two protected areas is part of the project “Knowledge exchange between protected areas: Obedska bara and Tivoli, Rožnik and Šiška Hill landscape park in the field of communication, education and nature interpretation“, funded by the Dinarides Parks network in cooperation with WWF Adria under the Grant Program for protected areas.

As part of the visit, the aim of which was to exchange experiences i.e., transfer of good practices between the two protected areas, we introduced our colleagues to ​​the landscape park. We walked through the city park Tivoli, got to know both natural monuments – Tivoli and Pod Turnom and Jesenko’s forest educational trail. We presented the activities that take place in this area – from education to nature conservation control.

We visited the nature reserve Mali Rožnik, where the conversation was mainly about the management of small protected areas, monitoring the state of biodiversity and measures for its conservation i.e., improvement and activities to remove invasive alien species.

We learned about some examples of good practices of cooperation with landowners in the park (linden tree avenue from Gostilna Čad to Villa Marija Vera, path from the Forestry Institute of Slovenia) and plans for arranging a path at the chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes at the end of Kikljeva Street. We visited the Forestry Institute of Slovenia and the Slovenian Forest Service, as we recognized the potential for future cooperation and networking in the field of nature protection as well as in the field of forestry.
