First Workshop Held for the Development of the Management Plan for the Cijevna Canyon Nature Monument

Parks Dinarides, in cooperation with the management body of the protected area Cijevna Canyon Nature Monument, organized the first workshop for the development of the Management Plan for this protected area. The workshop was held at the premises of the Municipality of Tuzi.

The workshop brought together representatives of the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Secretariat for Agriculture, Water Management and Environment of the Municipality of Tuzi, the Secretariat for Projects of the Municipality of Tuzi, the Local Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Tuzi, as well as representatives of the NGO sector — the Montenegrin Ecologists Society, the Center for Protection and Research of Birds, and the project partner Malesia Adventures. Representatives of local communities, namely the local councils gravitating toward the protected area of the Cijevna Canyon Nature Monument, also participated in the workshop.

The focus of the first workshop was the verification and supplementation of data related to the natural values of the area, as well as the definition of the vision for the future management of the protected area.

This workshop represents part of a broader consultative process that includes the organization of three workshops with relevant stakeholders, while the finalization of the Management Plan is expected by mid-October.

Activities supporting the protected area manager are being implemented through the project “Contribution to More Efficient Management of the Cijevna Canyon Nature Monument – Phase II”, financially supported by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF).
